Duplicate SKU and barcode finder

Choose your Shopify product export, or paste it in. If you paste a plain list instead, each line counts as one value. You'll see every SKU and barcode that more than one variant uses, along with the CSV row it's on.

Runs entirely in your browser. The file is read on your device and never uploaded.

Getting the export from Shopify

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Products and click Export.
  2. Choose All products and either CSV format, then export. Shopify emails you the file if it's large.
  3. Open this page and choose the file. Both the current column names (URL handle, SKU, Variant Barcodes) and older ones (Handle, Variant SKU, Variant Barcode) are recognised.

Barcodes that are valid GTINs are compared in their 14-digit form, so 036000291452 and 0036000291452 count as one code. Other values are compared exactly as written.

Why duplicates matter

Shopify doesn't stop two variants from sharing a SKU or a barcode. But anything that looks products up by SKU or barcode does get confused: label printers, warehouse and inventory apps, marketplaces, and Google Merchant Center. You end up with stock deducted from the wrong item, the wrong label printed, or a feed error. How to find and fix duplicate SKUs in Shopify.
